29 May Herbal Allies for Sustainable Energy: Boosting Your Vitality Naturally
Summer is coming! If you love the outdoors as much as I do then managing your physical energy well is a must through the summer months. Be sure the lemon is worth the squeeze, so to speak, and that’s especially important as we get older. I noticed my energy reserves seem to drain faster now than in my 30s, and it takes me longer to recover from activities that never used to have a physical impact, so it seems.
Thankfully, nature has a rejuvenating quality to it, so spending time near the sea, in the garden, or walking in the forest doesn’t feel quite as taxing on the body as working out in a gym. That’s because nature replenishes us energetically. “Green exercise” is known to reduce stress, elevate the mood, and help us feel more spiritually connected. Indeed, that sense of connection and antidepressant-like effect that nature provides is a main reason I became so interested in herbalism, and it’s why I am so eager to share it with others. Growing and healing with herbs renews me energetically, so that even if I feel physically exhausted, I can restore my vitality just by spending time around plants. It’s a beautiful thing.
Short & Sweet or Steady & Sustainable?
Finding sustainable ways to boost energy levels is essential to our health and well-being. Many of us reach for a quick fix like caffeine or sugary snacks, but these often lead to energy crashes and long-term health issues. Instead, turning to the natural world and embracing the wisdom of herbalism can provide a steady and lasting source of life energy. As someone who has woven energy healing and herbalism into daily life, I’ve discovered how growing and using certain herbs can support sustainable energy levels and overall well-being.
Living a self-sufficient lifestyle, I grow my own herbs and vegetables, connecting deeply with the earth. This practice not only nourishes my body but also invigorates my spirit, creating a holistic approach to health and energy. It’s also a beautiful, natural supplement to my work involving energy healing.
I wrote this blog to share my favourite herbal allies with you, exploring how they can enhance your energy sustainably and naturally.

This robust herb grows well in pots and garden beds, preferring moist soil and partial to full sunlight.

Essential Oil: Inhale peppermint oil or add a few drops to a diffuser to stimulate your senses and boost energy.
3. Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)

Growing and Harvesting Your Herbal Allies
Growing your own herbs is a rewarding practice that enhances your connection to nature and ensures you have a fresh supply of energy-boosting plants. Here are some general tips for cultivating these herbs:
Choose the Right Location:
Most herbs prefer well-drained soil and plenty of sunlight. Ensure your garden or pots are placed in an area that receives adequate light.
Watering:
Herbs need regular watering, but be careful not to overwater as this can lead to root rot. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between watering.
Harvesting:
Pick herbs in the morning after the dew has dried but before the heat of the day sets in. This is when their essential oils are most concentrated. Use sharp scissors or pruning shears to cut the herbs, taking care not to damage the plant.
Integrating Herbs into Your Daily Routine
Once you’ve grown and harvested your herbs, there are numerous ways to incorporate them into your daily routine to sustain your energy levels:
Herbal Teas:
Start your day with a cup of herbal tea made from fresh or dried leaves. Experiment with combinations like lemon balm and peppermint for a refreshing boost.
Aromatherapy:
Use essential oils derived from your herbs in a diffuser or apply diluted oils to your wrists and temples.
Culinary Uses:
Add fresh herbs to your meals to enhance flavor and boost health benefits. Herbs like rosemary and sage can be used in a variety of dishes.
Baths:
Add fresh herbs or essential oils to your bath for a relaxing and revitalizing experience.
